OnCue - Don’t Fall For That

Can’t Wait

As we patiently wait for his forthcoming mixtape to drop, Oncue has kindly dropped off new single Don’t Fall For That to give us an appetizer to the full course meal.  Produced by Justin W, the song’s beat centers around a riding snare drum that is followed by some synth chords that flow well behind the track’s melodic hook. Accompanied with a higher pitched chord pattern in the second verse from the synth, the production is simple and sweet, allowing the listener to focus on Cuey’s lyrics. Speaking of which, the opening line from the artist - “Use to get blown off, now I get blown on” - is a fairly accurate representation of what Don’t Fall For That is about.  Although it is not the deepest song you’ll hear this week, Cuey knows how to keep the flow moving and keep heads bobbing the whole time. I’m sure Bart Scott and I aren’t the only ones who Can’t Wait for the emcee’s currently unscheduled upcoming release. In the meantime, check out the Connecticut native’s previous work Leftovers, available for full stream and free download here.
