ONYX - Whut Whut

Posted 2 years ago

Last month, ‘90s hip-hop mainstays Onyx made their grand entrance into The DJBooth with We Don’t F**king Care, the belligerent second single off their eighth studio album. While the title of the freshly-released follow-up, What Whut, is less overtly hostile than that of its predecessor (or the LP to which it’s attached), the joint itself drips with the trio’s trademark aggression. The Snowgoons reprise their role behind the mixing boards, crafting a menacing, piano-led beat to accompany Queens reppers Fredro Star, Sticky Fingaz and Sonny Seeza as they describe the grisly fate that awaits those who stand in their way: “N**ga on some real sh*t, I’ll take you on a field trip / Bury you six feet, won’t have a guilt trip.” Like what you’re hearing? More bone-crushing beats and homicidal bars await on #WAKEDAFUCUP, scheduled to hit stores this coming Tuesday, March 18.
