Paul Wall ft. Jay Electronica, Raekwon & Yelawolf - Live It

Posted 6 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Travis Barker
Album:

I never know what to expect from Paul Wall, although knowing his track record and also being from Texas, I probably should. So when he keeps surprising me time and time again, I wonder if the rest of the world will notice. Taking a glance at Live It, off Wall’s upcoming album Heart of a Champion, you might wonder how a coke rap purveyor like Raekwon could co-exist with the country twang of Yelawolf and the southern five-percent teachings of Jay Electronica, much less have all four artists ride the same laid back and smooth Travis Barker production? It’s something to behold. Barker’s switch from his usual arsenal of heavy drums to saxophones and a jazz backdrop play well into each verse, making me appreciate Paul Wall’s retrospective verse even more. For a man who has been pegged as only a materialistic rapper, he is capable of making music that can make even a working man proud. With Heart of a Champion due July 13, maybe it’s time I stop second guessing Paul all together.
