Raphael Saadiq - Radio

Producer:
Raphael Saadiq
Album:
Stone Rollin

Seriously, Raphael Saadiq may have the best voice in the game today. Everything the singer does is pure quality – something that cannot be said for many artists, in any genre. With his new single, Radio, the Bay Area crooner continues his streak of classically aimed music. Produced by the man himself, upbeat guitar licks and shakers throw the listener back 50 years with a distinctly vintage sound, while Saadiq flexes his vocal skills and evokes charisma all over the track. With a genuine toe-tapping appeal, the song sounds as if it were made to be played at a school social hosted in the cafeteria, a la the movie Hairspray. One of the remarkable things about this cut is how it effortlessly avoids the cliché of a ‘throwback’, primarily because of the timeless voice of Saadiq. Be sure to look out for his new album, Stone Rollin, due out March 22, and featuring music from the ‘60s and ‘70s with a futuristic, Raphael Saadiq twist. Come to think of it, everything could use a Raphael Saadiq twist.
