Rapper Big Pooh ft. Choklate - They Say

Posted 4 years ago
Producer:
Kudie Fresh
Album:
Dirty Pretty Things

Released in late September, Phonte‘s freshman full-length has been a subject of considerable pre-release buzz and post-release acclaim. Lest we forget, however, another Little Brother alumnus has been doing his thing solo for a good five-plus years now—as a matter of fact, Rapper Big Pooh is currently getting ready to drop album numero cuatro. The latest single off the project, this cut finds the Carolina mainstay stating in no uncertain terms that he doesn’t care one whit what They Say. Who are “they?” I’m not certain, but I’m sure Booth readers could make some educated guesses. Over Kudie Fresh‘s slow-rolling, West Coast-accented production, Pooh launches pointed rebukes at one-time homies who now seem determined to impede his hustle: “Get it done anyway/ F*ck what them people say/ As we look around, notice who ain’t with me here today.” Seattle singer Choklate guests, expressing a similar lack of f*ck-giving on her smooth yet resolute chorus. Clearly, there ain’t no slowing Rapper Big Pooh down—so, why not jump on the bandwagon and grab a copy of his latest LP, Dirty Pretty Things, when it hits store shelves and online retailers November 1?
