Ras Kass & Doc Hollywood - Dog Day Afternoon

Posted 4 years ago
Producer:
Doc Hollywood
Album:
Spit No Evil LP

If you’ve ever seen mid-70’s flick Dog Day Afternoon the tale of two tragically inept bank robbers might seem like an unusual choice for a rap track, but Ras Kass is far from your usual emcee – and Dog Day Afternoon’s narrative style is just calling for a soundtrack. Making its world premiere right here, right now on The DJBooth, Dog Day is one of the more cinematic cuts you’ll ever hear, intercutting production duo Doc Hollywood’s synth beat with a rotating cast of characters and sound effects, giving the cut an instantly captivating appeal. From there it’s up to Kass’ considerable lyrical skill to carry the story, which ends when the two men, pushed to the brink by desperation, finally….you didn’t think I’d spoil the movie for you, did you? You’re just going to have to press play to get the full story, and of course download Ras Kass and Doc Hollywood’s collaborative album, Spit No Evil, when it drops via The DJBooth tomorrow, Tuesday April 3. Until then, grab some popcorn, take a seat on the couch and enjoy…
