Rashad & Confidence - Understand

Producer:
Confidence
Album:
The Element of Surprise

Every so often on Pandora a song plays that really doesn’t fit the mold of what I’m listening to, but it still instantly inspires me to search for more information on that artist. That’s exactly the feeling I got when I first heard hidden gem Understand, the new single and first DJBooth feature by producer/rapper duo Rashad & Confidence.  With Confidence handling the boards, Understand is a smooth and head-nodding boom-bap record that Rashad rides like Ron Turcotte rode Secretariat (look it up). Rashad’s focus is clear as he spills his heart and educates the listener on the effort and dedication it takes to become a true emcee. Juggling the balance of making records he enjoys while not selling out or listening to the critics is a challenge Rashad discusses, while also facing the temptation of the glamour and glitz associated with pop-friendly records. Understand is the latest release from the duo’s The Element of Surprise album (the cover of which pays homage to Lord Finesse & DJ Mike Smooth’s Funky Technician), which dropped on November 19. Feeling Intrigued? Then why not check out some album snippets right now?
