Red Cafe ft. Trey Songz, Wale & J. Cole - Fly Together (Remix)

Posted 4 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Ryan Leslie
Album:
TBD (Promo Single)

On the lead single off his endlessly-delayed freshman full-length, Red Cafe informed his girl that, no matter how brightly each of them may shine on their own lonesome, they’re even Fly[er] Together. The same principle (henceforth known as the Law of Exponential Flyness) applies to Cafe, Trey Songz, Wale and J. Cole, who have come together to bring us an official remix that’s much greater than the sum of its parts. Though Ryan Leslie‘s hook has been excised, the NextSelection head honcho’s instrumental, a glossy synth groove propelled by an effortlessly catchy bassline and rolling percussion rhythm, returns. Trey Songz runs point on the vocal tip, paying tribute to his Platonic ideal of a down chick on his (sung) opener, after which the headliner takes center stage for a brand new 16. Wale and Cole handle the second half of the joint, lacing R-Les’ luxuriant beat with (respectively) braggadocious wit (“Being fly is something that’s in my Levis / My jeans y’all, my DNA’s what I mean y’all.”) and irreverent game-spitting (“I don’t wanna be a player no more / OK, I’m lyin’, but I’m tryin.”). Will this remix/promo single be the joint that gets the gears moving for Red Cafe’s debut album release? Debate away—and, as always, keep it locked for all the latest.
