Reflection Eternal - In This World

Revolutions Per Minute

If you’re like me, Reflection Eternal’s debut album Train of Thought changed your life with its dopeness. In other words, if you’re like me, you take things like a Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek reunion album way too seriously. Regardless, after a nearly ten-year hiatus Reflection Eternal are once again ramping up to release a new album (see Just Begun and Back Again), and to keep the momentum building they’ve now dropped their new single In This World, a retro-drenched joint sure to blow out your speakers. For his part Hi-Tek takes an old school soul sample and flips it into a marching, pounding beat, and while Kweli’s as verbose as ever, it’s a relatively slow flow for the microphone veteran; although he does make sure to give Jay-Z’s endorsement of his rhyme kills plenty of play. So, have Reflection Eternal reignited the flame of their glory days? We’ll have to wait until their new album Revolutions Per Minute drops this April for the final verdict. Try not to hyperventilate in anticipation.
