For those not in the know, the Free Masons are a shadowy, international collective who, for ages, have worked behind the scenes, silently pulling the strings of history. Well, OK, that’s not exactly true – in reality, they’re more of a men’s club with fancy rings and secret handshakes – but there’s nothing wrong with suspending disbelief to enjoy a fresh track, right? The latest leak (not a single) off Teflon Don finds Rick Ross paying tribute to the best-known secret society on the planet, waxing poetic about ancient wisdom and cryptic codes over the head-noddably soulful sampled boardwork of The Inkredibles. Not a mason himself (though he is, as he explains, “a-mazin’”), the great J-Hova jumps on board to revisit his struggle to the top in an attention-grabbing guest verse, and John Legend tops it all off with silky backing vocals and a blissfully catchy (if somewhat off-topic) bridge. If you’re digging this standout track, more mystery and intrigue can be found on the Bawse’s fourth studio album, set to hit stores and online retailers July 20.
