Inside a Change Soundtrack

Though the hip-hop landscape’s changed considerably over the latter half of this decade, outsiders’ impressions of the genre are still colored by the same old “gangsta” stereotypes.  Saigon certainly knows a few things about this mindstate, seeing that he spent his teenage years in the treacherous streets of early-‘90s Brooklyn.  After serving six years in prison for attempted murder, he decided that a Change Gon Come and left his old life behind to pursue a full-time career in hip-hop.  Backed by the old-school sample work of Cleveland producers the Kickdrums (best known for their work with Ray Cash), this new single can best be described as Saigon’s “audiobiography to end all audiobiographies;” if the aforementioned rap-haters were to set aside their preconceived notions and simply listen to the emcee’s words, it’s a good bet that they’d reconsider their opinions on the genre.  Change Gon Come will appear on the soundtrack to well known music video director Rik Cordero‘s Inside A Change.  Both the film and the soundtrack album are scheduled for a limited release this July.
