Sampha - Happens

Posted 2 years ago
Producer:
Emile Haynie
Album:
None (Promo Single)

Back in July, while riding high off his guest contribution to Drake‘s The Motion, Sampha made his first headlining appearance on our pages with Booth-approved EP cut Without. Four months later, he’s back to bring us feature numero dos. Released along with an official video by Cherise Payne, Happen sees the South London singer, keyboardist and producer departing from his debut’s chilly electronic textures to showcase a more intimate, emotionally vulnerable side of his style. Emilie Haynes uses a light touch on the production tip; by avoiding extraneous bells and whistles, she keeps the focus on Sampha’s musicianship and expressive vocal presence. Happens can be found, along with the non-featured Too Much, on the artist’s new dual single, out now in the UK. A 7-inch vinyl version is scheduled to drop January 6, 2014.
