ScHoolboy Q - My Homie

Posted 5 years ago
Producer:
Alchemist
Album:
TBD

With projects from both Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock circulating heavily through hip-hop nation’s headphones the TDE movement is growing stronger by the day. Now another Black Hippy member is making his way to the front of the stage – Schoolboy Q. Last heard running through the only Options a young west coast emcee has, Q is back to put one down for My Homies on his new promo single. Filled with layered instruments and pacing percussion, the dark and expertly produced beat was done by the legendary Alchemist - Q even pays tribute to Alan Maman on the intro by declaring that he’s waited his whole life for an Alchemist beat. No wonder than that he takes his rhymes so seriously, running through a laundry list of pitfalls and obstacles set up to drop Q, from snitches to; and, as long as he’s at it, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reference (word to Donatello). So how about it? School is addicted to money, weed and b**tches, are you finding yourself addicted to his music? There’s no word yet on an upcoming project from Q, but if his TDE brethren are any indication a full-length work will be emerging from Schoolboy soon.
