Scram Jones ft. Rhymefest, Haffa, & Saigon - Yes We Can

Posted 7 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Scram Jones
Album:
Unreleased

Tossing his hat into the inauguration-record ring, NYC producer Scram Jones hooks up with three talented emcees to salute the man who turned “Yes We Can” into “Damn, we did!”  Over Jones’ tuneful, sampled beat, Chi-town native Rhymefest and Brooklyn up-and-comer Haffa celebrate the progress America’s made, and acknowledge the work that it will take to build a better future, while Saigon ends the record on an unreservedly optimistic note, spitting “Now that we got a black prez, we shouldn’t have no crackheads… no deadbeat dads.”  These lofty predictions may not come to pass, but the passion all three emcees display here is infectious, and Scram’s sound-collage “hooks,” which juxtapose Obama soundbites with famous quotes from MLK, Jr. and Malcolm X, should stir up some national pride in even the most jaded listener.
