Scratch ft. Kanye West & Consequence - Ready to Go

Loss 4 Wordz

Beatboxing may be Scratch‘s specialty, but he’s far from a one-trick pony; as demonstrated on previously-featured Loss 4 Wordz cuts Let’s Go (with Peedi Crakk) and Tonite (with Musiq Soulchild), his finely-honed oral percussion is an equally dope accompaniment to rap or R&B—and, with a Grammy win under his belt, who are we to doubt him?  On newly-released album track Ready to Go, Scratch once again places his old-school skills in a new-school context, this time providing a stark beatbox-synth backdrop as guest features Kanye West and Consequence describe a classy female who can nonetheless get low with the best of ‘em.  Both emcees’ rhymes are on-point (and Kanye’s melodic flow is as infectious as ever), but it’s Scratch’s own hypnotic groove, along with the catchy hook that make this record a winner.  If you like what you’re hearing, grab your coat and head to the nearest record store on the 26th, when Scratch’s latest LP drops (or just leave the coat at home, if it’s as warm where you’re at as it is in the Midwest).
