Loss 4 Wordz

As a few notable artists and producers have mentioned in Booth interviews, turntablism is currently enjoying a resurgence of popularity in mainstream hip-hop.  On this newly-leaked record off his forthcoming Loss 4 Wordz LP, Scratch is angling to take advantage of the ongoing retro renaissance and shine the spotlight on his favorite facet of the old-school sound—that’s right: beatboxing.  Let’s Go, sees the Roots alumnus doing what he does best: providing a human-drum-machine backdrop (with a few studio trimmings, of course) to hot rhymes.  In this case, said rhymes come courtesy of fellow Philly native Peedi Crakk, whose three verses make clear that regardless of whether you’re talking about cash, bling, women, or lyrical prowess, he won’t be outshined.  After years of honing his skills as an oral percussionist, is Scratch ready to cement beatboxing’s status as the Next Big Thing from Way Back When? We’ll have to wait till April 6th, when sophomore solo LP Loss 4 Wordz hits stores, to find out for sure.
