Sessions LA - My LA

None (Promo Single)

Twenty years ago last week, South Central LA was in the midst a horrific riot that left more than 50 people dead and more than 2,000 injured. Though it was a lifetime ago, it was a major defining event in the city’s history, as well as for social justice issues in the U.S. To commemorate the uprising, Inner-City Arts’ “Heart & Soul Arts Collective” presents a multimedia theatrical production called “My LA” which “portrays a vignette of LA from the perspective of its diverse youth residents.” Enter Sessions LA, a non-profit that works with students to create socially aware hip-hop, who created the play’s theme and title song. Emcees Tripz, Samuel Hernandez and RemGee (who also produced the track) are still teens, but they show great potential in this rousing anthem. It’s always great to see kids with talent being put to good use, so major props to Sessions LA for helping youth hone their craft and promote themselves as legit artists who take what they do seriously. Show them some love and spread the word!
