SeVen1 - Pocket Town Kings

Producer:
Retro Ren
Album:
Heaven & Here

Before listening to the latest record from rapper SeVen1, Pocket Town Kings, I had to Google where and what Pocket Town is. I learned that it is a small neighborhood in the South Side of Chicago. The rest of my knowledge about Pocket Town comes from this grimy, yet slick cut. Producer Retro Ren cooks up a sample-driven, horn-laden beat to back SeV as he stakes his claim to the throne. SeVen’s aggressive, crackling flow, combined with his knack for powerful one-liners and street-oriented concepts, could help to ensure a long, prosperous reign. So, did Pocket Town Kings have you hailing the king or hoping for revolution? If you fall into the former camp, you’ll be able to find more regal bangers on the artist’s Heaven & Here LP, scheduled for release this summer.
