Sheek Louch - Nite Falls

Posted 5 years ago
Producer:
Statik Selektah
Album:
Donnie G.

Though most Booth readers had nothing but praise for Sheek Louch‘s recent foray into club/radio territory with current single Party After 2, the few who were concerned that the D-Block member misplaced his edge in the transition to Def Jam can breathe a sigh of relief; newly-leaked album inclusion Nite Falls finds the NYC vet going back to his gritty, street-ready roots. Boston heavyweight Statik Selektah mans the boards, flipping a moody sample from prog-rock group Planet P Project’s Top of the World as the emcee describes the changes his ‘hood undergoes after dark: “Here come them goons again, it’s gettin’ dark, I think I’ll sharpen up them spoons again…” Boasting bars that pack enough lyrical detail to make even the most jaded listener shiver and some top-tier production to boot, this cut should have longtime followers and new fans alike rubbing their hands together in anticipation of Louch’s fifth solo album. Agree with my assessment? Then remember to pick up your very own copy of Donnie G. when it drops next Tuesday, December 14.
