Journey's in 1st Person

Last we heard from SkyBlew, he was gazing skyward, marveling at the transformation of day into night on May 2013 promo cut Sun to Moon, Wow. On his latest single, by contrast, his eyes are fixed a little closer to the horizon. As the Alabama spitter drinks in the illumination from the StreetLIGHTS, he reflects on the person he might have become, had his life taken a different turn: “Food for thought, could’ve chose a different route / Gangbangin’ on the corner, bust straps for the clout.” To accompany his nocturnal reveries, Backdraft provides an effervescent throwback beat sampled from Call Me, the late-‘80s hit single from soul man Sherrick. Like what you’re hearing? More quality beats and thought-provoking bars await on Sky and Backdraft’s unscheduled Journey’s in 1st Person LP, the follow-up to 2012’s Life in 3rd Person.
