Skylar Grey - White Suburban

Posted 3 years ago
Producer:
Holly Hafermann
Album:

Skylar Grey‘s last single, the Booth-approved Wear Me Out, found the singer/songwriter laughing at those who would equate her youthful appearance with naïvete. The song heavily implied that her jaded, cocksure attitude was the result of the hard knocks she’d suffered throughout her life—one of the earliest, and hardest of which she recounts on freshly-released follow-up White Suburban. Led by the artist’s own spare piano chords and stripped-down instrumental, Grey looks back on her first brush with heartbreak, admitting, “Although I’ve since moved on / and I’ve been in love a few times / There’s still a piece of me / that holds on to you.” An uncredited director provides the record’s poignant visual accompaniment. Featuring this mournful ballad and much more, debut full-length Don’t Look Down is set to hit record stores and online retailers next Tuesday (7/9) via KIDinaKORNER/Interscope .
