Skyzoo ft. King Mez - For The Awake

Oh No
The Great Debater

When I was a kid with Christmas approaching I’d always struggle every time my moms left the house. I knew where she hid our presents (in the back of her closet) and I wanted to sneak a peek so incredibly bad, but I also knew that it would ruin the joyful surprise of Christmas morning. That’s exactly how I feel about Skyzoo’s upcoming Great Debater project now that it will finally be dropping tomorrow. Previous leaks The Definitive Prayer and Written in the Drums had my expectations sky high and new release For the Awake has me feverish with anticipation. Produced by Oh No, who layers vocal samples and sharp drums to simultaneously head-nodding and relaxing effect, this one is Skyzoo and guest rapper King Mez at their best, proving that lyrically they’re not just conscious, they’re fully awake and ready to shake the sleeping out of their slumber. The wait ends tomorrow, June 7, when The Great Debater finally drops right here on DJBooth. Just like Christmas morning, I promise the wait will be worth it.
