Slaughterhouse - Hammer Dance

By | 4 years ago
Track: Hammer Dance
Producer: AraabMUZIK

It’s finally happened. Unsatisfied with the financial rewards of their uncompromising, lyrically-driven approach, Slaughterhouse have decided to line their pockets by creating a mindless, focus-grouped dance hit. Psych! Scared you though, didn’t I? In reality, the “Hammer Dance” described on single numero uno off the underground supergroup’s sophomore set is only a dance in the loosest sense of the word (“Two-steppin’ with my weapon on me.”), and the record itself is just as gritty and gimmick-free as heads have come to expect. AraabMUZIK sets the mood for a lyrical ultraviolence on the production tip, pairing a boom-bap rhythm with muffled synths as Royce Da 5’9”, Crooked I, Joe Budden and Joell Ortiz drop verses packed from top to bottom with gritty quotables. Best line? Personally, I’m gonna have to award the blue ribbon to Crook, who proclaims, “...we a mix between Tyra Banks and energy drinks: fore-headed Monster.” As always, though, I defer to Booth readers’ judgment. welcome to: OUR HOUSE, the group’s Shady Records debut, is set for release May 15. Watch for Crook’s latest tape, Psalm 82:6, to drop one week prior, on March 8.
