Sleepy Brown may be best known as the man providing vocal assistance to Outkast on such tracks as Morris Brown, The Way You Move and Big Boi’s Lookin For Ya, but the Georgia native can get down on the solo tip as well, as evidenced by his new single You’re My Lady. While not officially confirmed, we can only assume that the almost impossibly smooth guitar lines and padded percussion currently coursing through your headphones comes courtesy of Brown’s Organized Noise production crew. If you are indeed responsible my hat off to you gentlemen, this is a study in the beauty of minimalism. But Lady would be nothing without vocals and Brown delivers an overdose of dopeness there as well; I know I’m prone to hyperbole, but I can’t help put think of a pre-crack D’Angelo when Sleepy lays down his restrained vocals. Ladies, enjoy, this one’s for you. (And guys, play it for your ladies. Hint, hint.) If you hate great music you’ll want to stay far, far away from Brown’s upcoming album Sex, Drugs & Soul, due to drop via his own 13 Black Records.
