Slum Village ft. Focus… - God Sent / Hunger

Producer:
Young RJ
Album:
Dirty Slums

Slum Village has always presented great music with great production, and the release of Dirty Slums is no different. While the album was released yesterday on iTunes, the track(s) God Sent/Hunger originally were featured on their free mixtape with Mick Boogie that dropped this past March. Now, as if a mixtape and album wasn’t enough, the Detroit group have now released a combo video for their standout tracks. Featuring production by Young RJ, both records contain a percussion section that gives off an old school Hip-Hop break. I imagine James Brown would bob his head and mumble “aint it funky” to himself. The difference in the production is more on the synth portion, where God Sent adds a heavy synth sound that give the track a more dramatic feel and the video highlights that feel with darker and more serious scenes. Hunger, on the other hand, is a lot more laid back and lyrically is one of those “I told you I was going to be on top even though I started at the bottom” cuts. Despite their differences, both cuts are dope and were an obvious selection for a joint visual.
