Smitty hadn’t always planned on being a rapper.  Enrolling in college as a Journalism major in 1997, Smitty studied for two and a half years before deciding to leave school to pursue his dream of music full-time.  He first gained attention for his rhymes by sneaking onto the set of the film “The Wash”, in which Dr. Dre was starring. “We waited for him about 15, 16 hours,” says Smitty. “When we met him he was like, ‘Yeah, it must be something, ‘cause y’all been out here all day’.”  And Smitty’s perseverance paid off – he was recording with Dre two weeks later. After writing several songs for “The Wash” soundtrack, Smitty achieved further success penning hits for Diddy and B2K.  He aims to stay in the charts with his upcoming album, Life Of a Troubled Child. The first single, Died In Your Arms Tonight, is a re-worked version of the 80’s Cutting Crew classic. The sample has been slowed down considerably, mixing the original chorus with rap verses from Smitty and T-Pain on the chorus. Be sure to check out more from Smitty on Life Of a Troubled Child when it drops in August.
