Smitty ft. T.I. & Joe Boom - Mind On My Money

Bigger Than Life

Introduced to the hip-hop mainstream as a ghostwriter (see Nelly, Diddy, and Murphy Lee‘s Shake Ya Tailfeather, B2K and Diddy‘s Bump Bump Bump), Smitty inked his own deal with J Records 2003 and proceeded to release singles Diamonds On My Neck, Died In Your Arms, and Tell Me.  Once the Jive execs started to put pressure on J, though, the deal’s original sweetness went sour, so he decided to jump ship (as Cassidy and Rhymefest would later do) and went on to find greener pastures at Blackground/Interscope.  Now that his label drama is over, the Little Haiti native is back on his grind and determined to keep his “Mind On My Money’ at all times.  Being the sharp businessman he is, Smitty locks down the “heavyweight feature” factor, enlisting T.I. on the hook’s front end. While Joe Boom‘s vocals on the latter half may come off as cliché (despite what some blogs may tell you, it’s NOT T-Pain!) , Block‘s piano-loop instrumental is fresh enough to pique listeners interest.  If you’re a fan, stay on the lookout for Smitty’s contribution to our exclusive freestyle series, coming this summer.
