If DJBooth were giving out awards for best mixtape title, my vote would easily go to Harlem emcee and Freestyle alum Smoke DZA’s George Kush Da Button. The Booth-sponsored tape has the kind of good living, smoky haze and soulful production that harkens listeners back to a 1950s jazz club, especially with frequent collaborators Ski Beatz and Big K.R.I.T. on board. Speaking of which, GKDB is heavy on collaborations, and one of the standouts from the tape is GoodTalk, featuring Leimert Park’s own Dom Kennedy. Trading barbs over some K.R.I.T. production that’s eerily similar to Just Blaze’s chopping of the Isley Brother’s Between the Sheets, both Dom & DZA embrace the idea of making feel good music full of braggadocio and success. DZA even states he’s, “Goku, Mr. Miyagi, Sonny from Bronx Tale and the n*gga who gave Leroy his glow.” I don’t know about you, but I’d rather have DZA with his finger on the button than G.W. So go ahead and enter DZA’s White

Green House and download George Kush Da Button now.
