Ski Beatz
Album:
George Kush The Button

I’d make a joke about rampant marijuana consumption being the reason we haven’t heard a primary feature from DJBooth Freestyle alum Smoke DZA in six months (Remember Those Days was his last), but his new track The Secret sounds so sharp it could cut through even the haziest cloud of chronic. Produced by Ski Beatz, who gives the beat a subdued yet banging feel, The Secret also features skyrocketing up-and-comer Big K.R.I.T., who’s undoubtedly returning the favor for DZA appearing on his breakthrough track No Wheaties. However it happened, the important thing is that a stellar beat from Ski, plus elite verses from Smoke and K.R.I.T., means that we’ve got one hell of a track on our hands. For more blunted hip-hop keep an ear out for DZA’s upcoming album George Kush The Button, due out July 27. Or even better, go see Smoke and Big K.R.I.T. perform at their DJBooth-sponsored show at New York City’s S.O.B.’s on Friday, June 30. Tickets are only $10 and can be purchased here.
