Smokey Robotic - Roar (Katy Perry Cover)

Posted 2 years ago
Producer:
!llmind & Konrad OldMoney
Album:
None (Promo Single)

Late last month, R&B singer DB2 stepped into the Booth with his soulful reimagining of Unconditionally, a sweeping ballad off Katy Perry‘s latest full-length. Today, reader faves Smokey Robotic have put their own spin on another cut off Prism—namely, recent single Roar. Rather than turning the bubblegum-pop hit inside out like you might expect, the ever-innovative NYC crew stick relatively close to Perry’s original blueprint. The addition of a rapped verse by vocalist Seer, however, keeps their rendition fresh. Brady Watt guests on guitar, and an unknown director’s live visuals round out the package. This cover isn’t part of a larger set, but those left craving more can always check out the group’s last promo cut, Lady’s Scream.
