For most artists, the creative process includes hibernating in a studio until some real progress is made. While locking himself in a room doing five beats a day for three summers might work for Kanye, Sol prefers to get out in the world. After his 2012 album, Yours Truly, appeared on both the Billboard and iTunes charts, Sol left the country in search of inspiration in places like India, East and South Africa, South America and the Caribbean. It appears as though his worldly travels have gotten his creative juices flowing, because Dope is refreshing, energetic, and a feel-good listen. Over a breezy, synth-heavy beat from The Zillas, Sol showcases his charismatic flow as he delivers clever, grind-oriented bars. Does this effort live up to its name? Let us know below. If you’re feeling it, be on the lookout for Sol, as he will be making some serious moves in the upcoming months.
