The Bailout (The Mixtape)

You have to give it up to a guy who can flip the game. Speeding up the former king of the sped-up soul sample, Kanye West, Stat Quo rhymes with amazing clarity on a brand new record over Bobby Glenn’s Sounds Like A Love Song. Though the former Shady/Aftermath recruit has MVP status thanks to co-signs from Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre and Eminem, Stat elaborates on why I Am Hip Hop is more than just a marketing ploy in the current age of digital downloads and ringtone rappers. lyr1ks does a mighty fine job of giving the buzzworthy artist the energy to back up everything that he says; I Am Hip Hop manages to be equal parts tough and vulnerable, allowing listeners to learn how it feels to lose a deal, while exuding the strength that allowed the emcee to push through the crisis.
