With his latest solo set less than 24 hours from release, heavyweight DJ/producer Statik Selektah has liberated one last standout cut to tide y’all over. In contrast to the gritty bombast of last week’s Camouflage Dons, The Spark has a low-key, leisurely feel. Over swung rhythm section accented by brass, keys and Chipmunked vocal samples, guest spitters Action Bronson and Joey BadA$$ trade relaxed, yet appealingly braggadocious verses. Mike Posner lends his raspy (and Auto-Tune-free) vocals to the record’s hook. To quote a commenter on SoundCloud, “THIS SH*T KNOCKS LIKE DOOR TO DOOR SALESMEN.” Feeling it? More real hip-hop awaits on Extended Play, dropping this Tuesday via ShowOff/Duck Down.
