Tech N9ne ft. Serj Tankian - Straight out the Gate

Some rhymesayers need to warm up before unleashing their most most dazzling flows. Strange Music ringleader Tech N9ne, on the other hand, is “incredible Straight out the Gate.” On the latest single off his recently released 13th album, the underground heavyweight hits the ground running, lacing Seven‘s metal-tinged production with bars as lyrically dense as they are technically adept. On just about any other hip-hop record, a guest appearance from Serj Tankian would be totally incongruous, but the System of a Down frontman’s classically-schooled vocal style sounds right at home on this joint’s sweeping chorus. (Krizz Kaliko‘s contribution, sadly, is left out of this version of the cut). An unknown director’s official visuals round out the package. Reviewed this week by our own Nathan S., Tech’s Something Else LP is available now wherever fine music is sold.
