Terence Ryan - Skeleton (Yeah Yeah Yeahs Remix)

In the early days rock and hip-hop lived side by side and never did the two meet…unless you count Aerosmith kicking a hole in the wall to yell at Run DMC. But in 2012 the lines between hip-hop and, well, every other genre are getting so blurry they’re ceasing to be lines at all. Case in point, Terence Ryan’s remix of indie rock band’s haunting cut Skeleton. For Skeleton’s second time around the MA and emcee beatsmith, making his The DJBooth debut today, keeps much of the original’s hazy feel intact, most notably adding some more pounding drums and anthemic chorus into the mix, giving the beat a more propulsive feel than the original. From there Ryan adds in a softly sung hook and then grabs the mic to put some of his deepest beliefs on record, touching on everything from God to school to his willingness to put his body on the line for the music he loves. With an opening shot like this there’s no telling what genres and styles will be throw in the blender for Ryan’s upcoming EP, also titled Skeleton.
