This Generation

For those who couldn’t make it to a tropical locale for spring break, fear not, as Stones Throw band, The Lions, have got you covered. The group’s reggae roots, which are showcased on a brand new video single, are sure to have listeners feeling so good that a visit to Jam Rock isn’t that far away. While some might think that Roll It Round is a Mary Jane anthem, it is actually about rolling around in the sheets, not rolling papers; lines like “I know you’re choosey so won’t you choose me / your momma might love me but your daddy won’t approve me”, suggest that they have a bit of knowledge in their field. The band’s old school sound, a beautiful blend of reggae and soul, is echoed in the song’s visuals, which feature the collective rocking a show and taking some time to swoon the ladies. The Jon Casey directed visuals match the vintage vibe, thanks to a dusty, yellowish effect that shares in island party sentiment. So, who needs spring break when you can listen to The Lions new album, This Generation (which reached #2 on the Billboard Reggae Charts), on which Roll It Around can be found?
