Rising Down

No matter where in the world you live, racism is prevalent.  For centuries, minorities have been unfairly beaten, shot and tortured because of their ethnicities and unfortunately, as of late, we have sadly been reminded of such grim realities (Jena 6, Sean Bell).  Although free speech is practiced in the United States, recording artists (especially those who are signed to major labels) rarely project their remarkably prominent voices.  Thankfully, Philadelphia’s own The Roots has brought an end to non-politically-driven music.  On a track on their new album, Rising Down, the band is joined by MCs Saigon and Truck North, who together discuss the journey of a lifelong hustler and his issues.  Note: tomorrow, an interview with The Roots’ ?uestlove will be featured on DJ Booth.
