Naughty By Nature - O.P.P.

Naughty By Nature

These are dark days for Naughty By Nature fans. As Treach and Vin Rock trade blows in the media, and actual blows in the studio (allegedly), we thought we’d inaugurate our new Throwback Thursday series with an all-time rap classic, OPP. Use a Jackson 5 ABC sample as his foundation, group producer DJ Kay Gee used hard hitting drums and a rolling bass line to create a beat simultaneously pop and unapologetically street, giving Treach and Rock a launchpad for their storytelling rhymes about the joys of….ummm…other people’s….special places. Peaking at number six on the charts, O.P.P. would prove to be Naughty By Nature’s biggest hit and, with the possible exception of Hip-Hop Hooray, the track they will always be best known for. So instead of focusing on all the questions swirling about the group’s future, I suggest we take this moment to focus on one of life’s great questions: you down with O.P.P.?
