Trackademicks ft. Phonte - Fool on the Hill

State of the Arts

Working one’s way up from the bottom of the music game is never a stress-free process but, as in just about anything, the wrong attitude can make things much harder than they truly are. Where many up-and-comers chase impatiently after cash and fame, Bay Area rapper/producer Trackademicks stays as calm and unruffled as the Beatles’ Fool on the Hill, confident that everything will come in due time. While the lyrical theme is clearly reminiscent of the Fab Four’s classic cut, Track looks elsewhere for production inspiration, cooking up a dreamy, headphone-ready synth backdrop for his musings on life, art, and the nature of success. Little Brother alumnus Phonte handles guest duties, playing the role of mentor as he spits bars laced with solid advice: “Might be rewarded for beefin’, but you don’t want beef, n*gga eat a parsnip…” As lyrically astute as it is vibe-out-able, this spacey banger is set for inclusion on Trackademicks’ State of the Arts LP, which currently lacks a release date – guess you’ll just have to keep it locked for the latest!
