Trae The Truth ft. Lupe Fiasco - Bad Don’t Seem So Wrong

Posted 6 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Dirty Werks
Album:
Ban The Truth

It wasn’t exactly surprising to hear esteemed lyricist Lupe Fiasco jump on the remix to Bruno Mars’ number one hit Just the Way You Are, but I doubt many expected to hear Lupe join Trae the Truth, the gravel voiced Texas rapper who’s as large as his home state, on Trae’s new record Bad Don’t Seem So Wrong. Then again, considering the response Trae’s been earning on the Booth lately (see Something Real), and the haunted, mellow production from producer Dirty Werks, who flips a sample from Garfield’s ‘70s song Private Affair into a melancholy banger, maybe pairing the Lone Star State and Chi-Town emcees isn’t so strange after all. While not his greatest verse, Lupe drops a typically dope and deep verse, and Trae keeps up impressively, continuing to prove his lyrical game is far better than many would give him credit for. If this record’s wrong, I don’t know if I want to be right. For more relentlessly real rap, be sure to keep Trae’s forthcoming mixtape, Ban the Truth, coursing through your speakers after it drops on September 28.
