Travis Barker ft. Lil Wayne, The Game, Rick Ross & Swizz Beats - Can a Drummer Get Some?

Posted 5 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Travis Barker
Album:
Give the Drummer Some

Being great at your particular craft and appreciative of others is how beneficial collaborations come about. Since former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker is respected across genres, he can call up anyone from The Cool Kids to Tom Morello. After a couple of DJ Booth favorite teases, we get the first true single from Barker’s album in the form of Can a Drummer Get Some?. The way the record plays out Swizz Beatz is relegated to his usual chorus and hype man duties, meaning the focus is on three rappers, two of whom know Barker very well. Game seems urgent, keeping his lines battle ready and impactful and Weezy remains topical with sport references peppered throughout and his usual brand of croaky wordplay. Rick Ross, though, almost seems like an afterthought, but manages to conjure up the idea that he can speak Swahili while stacking his assortment of millions. Barker’s super project, Give the Drummer Some, drops March 15 on Interscope Records with features from Slaughterhouse, Clipse, KiD CuDi, Paul Wall and Kurupt. I don’t think the drummer will be asking for some anymore, he’ll just take all the attention he pleases.
