Careless World

While I’m on It, the lead single off Tyga‘s sophomore set, earned a very respectable 3.4-star average when it hit the Booth back in March, the record didn’t stir up enough buzz to get the project onto shelves, as planned, in September. Knowing that there’s no better way to get the hype train a’rolling than by catering to the ladies, the Compton native turns on the charm on this potential follow-up, which finds him falling in love for the very First Time. Over The Neptunes‘slow-burning synths and breathy accents, Tyga assures a shy shawty that, though he’s been around the block a few times, his days as a womanizer are over and done with: “I know you ain’t scared of tygas… used to be a player, but now retired.Pharrell steps out from behind the boards to contribute a smooth chorus, deftly underlining the double-entendre: “I’ll take it easy your first time, first time…” Is this joint seductive enough to earn Careless World a solid release date from the label brass, or should Tyga look elsewhere for the hit he needs? As always, I’ll leave it to Booth readers to issue the final verdict.
