Purpose

There are a few things you should know about Tyson onBEATS, right off the bat. For one thing, it’s not one person but a duo made up of rapper Tyson Amir and beatsmith Ridwan Bass (better known as onBEATS). For another, they hail from San Jose, California. Most importantly, though, they’re really f**king fly. For confirmation, simply take a listen to We So Fly, featured on our front page along with visuals by Shihan Pictures. OnBeats establishes a mellow, headphone-ready vibe behind the boards, layering jazzy flutes and bass over an understated boom-bap rhythm section. Though Amir adopts a laid-back, nonchalant flow to match the instrumental, his bars are nonetheless jam-packed with wit and lyrical substance. Mikial lends his vocals to the hook. Fans will be able to find We So Fly and much more on Tyson onBEATS’s Purpose LP, available now for digital purchase.
