Beatnick & K-Salaam: Where The Streets Have No Name

On the latest leak off K-Salaam & Beatnick‘s Where the Streets Have No Name, Thurzday and Y.O. of Booth-beloved duo U-N-I offer a few sage words of advice to all the aspiring emcees out there (and, really, anyone with big ambitions): “Reach For The Sky”  Though the twosome are in fighting form (Thurzday’s duck-related puns are a highlight), the record’s best moments come courtesy of two D.C. up-and-comers—on the back end, Haziq Ali and tabi Bonney step up to the mic for a little old-school line-trading, and the contrast between the former’s deep-voiced croak and the latter’s higher-pitched flow, along with a little clever writing, add up to a standout verse brimming with deadpan braggadocio.  Complete with some densely-layered boardwork and spacey vocal effects from the Minneapolis production duo, FTS (along with previous features I’m Fine, In Jamaica, and My Zone) is sure to have many listeners reaching for K-Salaam & Beatnick’s star-studded compilation album, out now.
