Verse Simmonds - I Don’t Mind

Posted 6 years ago
Producer:
Meco The Great
Album:
Stories of a Bachelor

Considering his last two DJBooth offerings were about his patriotic fever for a fine lady’s booty (America) and not-really-apologizing to his girlfriend for grabbing other ladies’ booties (I’m Just Sayin), I had a good idea what to expect from island singer Verse Simmonds when I pressed play on his new single I Don’t Mind – booty. Sure enough, the slowly winding record is about a female who doesn’t mind, you guessed it, that Verse’s hand is on her booty. Behind the boards boldly named producer Meco the Great crafts a light, reggae-pop beat for Simmonds to croon over, and croon he does, laying down line after line of sweet nothings, in addition to an incredibly appropriate vocal reference to classic ‘90s jam Rumpshaker. Ok, so it may not be most original record ever made, but at a breezy three four minutes I don’t think many will seriously mind spending some time with Mr. Simmonds. I’m (happily, right honey?) married, so I’ll just have to live vicariously through Verse on his upcoming album Stories of a Bachelor, which still has no release date.
