Village Of Pharaohs (VoP) - Hwy 85

Posted 3 years ago
Producer:
MMA [for Applewhite Music]
Album:
Pharaodysseus (1996 A.D.)

Fans of underground hip-hop will likely think of the Vinnie Paz (of Jedi Mind Tricks) formed group Army Of The Pharaohs when they see the latest cut from the hip-hop quartet, Village Of Pharaohs; however, don’t expect the same style. Sure VOP has dope, quality bars, but their presentation is very different.  On Highway 85 Village Of Pharaohs opt for a more smooth, laid-back style than their similarly named brethren; a vibe set off by the buttery, jazz inspired boardwork of group member Applewhite Music. Atop Applewhite’s majorly awesome beat (props to anyone who gets that reference) VOP emcees SkyHigh The Great and MMA The Marvel take turns cruising down the highway, weaving in and out of lanes with their agile, yet reserved flows. Want to take another trip? If so, be sure to peep their upcoming album, Pharaodysseus (1996 A.D.), when it drops this fall.
