Mixtape About Nothing

Hype is a double-edged sword; while it can certainly help a new artist make a name for themselves, it can just as easily turn that artist into a bust if it is never fully lived up to. After dominating the “DMV” (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) mixtape circuit, stealing headlines all across the music press, and receiving Entertainment Weekly’s coveted nomination for one of eight people to watch for in ’08, the latter edge of the sword is flush against Wale’s neck, as fans will be severely let down if his music falls anywhere short of parting seas and moving mountains. When his next mixtape, Mixtape About Nothing, drops today, he’ll face his first test of this make-or-break year.  Eye Of The Tiger, a go-go rendition of Survivor’s iconic Rocky theme produced by Best Kept Secret, is one of its early leaks.
