Scrublife Mixtape

Comic/rapper/storyteller Wax dropped his mixtape Scrublife, about two weeks ago via DJBooth and, according to the feedback, the Booth is in love. The YouTube phenom has a talent for injecting humor in his rhymes and Dispensary Girl is no exception. The self-produced joint bounces with guitar strums and triangle hits as Wax serenades the finest (legal) drug-dealer he’s ever seen. The current L.A. resident spits storytelling-style about his infatuation with the dispensary woman and her marijuana expertise: “When it comes to weed knowledge, she’s kind of a diva / Well versed in the new kind of sativa.” Between each playful verse is an Afroman-esque chorus that is sure to be chanted by potheads everywhere in the future: “Oh, oh oh, I think I’m in love again / Oh, oh, oh she gives me my medicine.Dispensary Girl‘s lighthearted and refreshing—no inflated, gun-toting egos here (come on, it gets old). Wax wasn’t looking to do anything legendary with this one; instead, he gave us a chilled out, comedic piece about the drug-dealer of his dreams, and for that we thank you Wax. Those interested in living the Scrublife can download and stream the project for free here.
