WELL$ ft. King Mez - Youth in Revolt Pt. 2

Posted 2 years ago
King Mez, Sipho The Great

On last year’s Youth in Revolt, North Carolina rhymesayer WELL$ rebelled against traditional song structures by eschewing a chorus in favor of one relentless three-minute verse. The reception was so positive (The cut won a phenomenal 4.5-star average rating in the Booth.) that he’s decided to record a sequel. While Youth in Revolt Pt. 2 shares its predecessor’s hookless format, there are a few twists. For one thing, WELL$ isn’t flying solo; in addition to producing the string-led beat in collaboration with Sipho the Gift, fellow First in Flight State repper King Mez contributes guest rhymes. The subject matter is also more politically charged this time around, a fact that’s reflected in the Martin Luther King, Jr. quotes that bookend the record. This lyrically hard-hitting cut isn’t part of a larger set but, rest assured, we’ll keep you posted on WELL$‘s plans as we learn more.
