Yancey Boys ft. Common & Dezi Paige - Quicksand

Posted 2 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
J Dilla
Album:

Though the great J Dilla passed away seven years ago, we’ve yet to plumb the depths of his catalog. Just recently, a new cache of unreleased beats was discovered. And who better to blaze them than John “Illa J” Yancey, the legendary producer’s younger brother? In collaboration with Frank Nitt, the other half of underground crew The Yancey Boys, he’s turned the aforementioned instrumentals into a project that would make Jay Dee proud. On the set’s lead single, Quicksand, a blissfully mellow acoustic-guitar loop backs the duo as they trade complex, conversational verses with Chi-Town veteran Common. Singer Dezi Paige, a Booth newcomer, lends her vocals to the chorus. Like what you’re hearing? Peep Sunset Blvd. via Delicious Vinyl.
